Hey all, it's been awhile! Just got done with translating this little number here and thought I'd post over here since Sailor Star Dust helped us out with the QC. Had a lot of fun working on this project, enjoy!

It's getting kind of annoying to me that all the happy end alternate ending stuff is always Shinji/Asuka.

IIRC, Happy End has just the two of them as sole survivors. And anyway, Rei and Kaworu have both ruled themselves out by the end of EoE.

I already said it over on THAT BOARD, but I'll repeat it for posterity: you have a small bit of my eternal thanks for this translation.

Is it too much to ask for there to be a "happy ending" where Asuka gets her own life? You know, besides that one... guuh, any but that one.

Bah, way too much hate in a thread about one of the most heartwarming doujins out there. :P

I really can't thank you guys enough! I've been waiting for a translation of this since... well, it could actually be since it came out in 03; it was in my relatively early days in the fandom that I learned of this.

Still wish there would have been a bit more about the family-life, eventually including Yuu. But Mai's still too adorable to be disappointed in any way.

Isn't that what you're calling yours in the transhumanism thread? I'd much prefer that over this, so sweet and WAFF it's spongecake drenched in pure-concentrate type 2 diabetes.

I acknowledge the Shinji in the series as someone I can understand, and while the Shinji in here has "noble intentions" and all, I just don't see where the hell they could be coming from. Screw whatever continuity it follows, it's not him, it's not even an interesting take.

Perhaps Shinji could become this one day, alright, but I much rather see that journey, just how he got from point A to point B, and his struggles there-in, then merely being bashed over the head with "Yeah, this happened, all you know is wrong, yadda yadda yadda, YOU'RE A DADDY NOW!".

It's earning the prize without putting in the effort... I can see the appeal, even feel it to an extent, but I don't share it. It just mocks all that came before.

Note I say this, if as a shipper of anything, it is A x S.

I think that's because Pengel would rather focus on Asuka's development instead of Shinji's. Though there's also the fact that after a few stories, Pengel dropped this series to work on Epilogue of Eva where there was a lot more development, then came back to work on an ending for Happy End. You're right though, Happy End is more of "Here we became a couple" -> "We've been a couple for quite sometime" -> "We're getting married!" -> "Oh hay, look who popped out 3 years ago!", just snap shots of their life instead of the growth.

It's just masturbatory fluff, so to speak. An artists personal happy ending to a epic's macabre final act, perhaps to seek closure (I know I didn't get it, after EoE, else I wouldn't be here).

And that's a-ok with me!

The download is not working for me. when I open it on adobe reader,it is saying that it might have been taken from an email attachment and it was not properly decoded. can you please give me some advise on this? I tried opening on two image viewers and a word doc, but none have worked. I have the same problem for Epilogue of Evangelion.

After I downloaded it none of my readers worked so I downloaded one of the programs my computer suggested I download then it worked (I downloaded something called suffet or something like that I will check what it is later after school I get home around 4:30 today)

edit:the program was called suffit (I downloaded the free version and that program gave the option of extracting the file that is how I was able to read it)

sufit? I will look for it. But first I am going to try to update my adobe reader, that may help. My computer has not suggested any programs that can open the file though.

Are you using windows or macintosh? Cause there are different programs to help unzip these types of files.

This is the site my computer linked me to

http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=rar

This is where I got the suffit free trial
http://www.stuffit.com/win-expander.html
(to extract right click happy end then do the option open with suffit then when the new window pops up right click and do extract all thats how I got it to work)

If you're on Windows, then CDisplay will read scans out of a .rar archive (or nested archives) without needing to explode them. For freeware un-rar, then 7-zip is your baby.

@ReiAyanami25 if you like happy end you may like epilogue of evangelion
which can be found here http://forum.evageeks.org/viewtopic.php?t=9167 (just know this is a major A/S love story and there is little to no Rei or any other members of the cast so if you like A/S as a couple then give this a read)

Windows 7. Oh, and I tried to download epilogue too, but it had the exact same problem.

Stuffit is awful software. Get 7-Zip for Windows or The Unarchiver for Mac OS X. Both are free, unlike Stuffit, and both should be far more capable and stable.
