Photio is a complex of nanocatalysts that can be added and mixed directly into paints, concrete, asphalts, and various coatings for air purification. These nanocatalysts that make up Photio use solar or artificial radiation to promote a series of photochemical reactions on the surface, which are responsible for the degradation and capture of pollutant gases. This process enables manufacturers to derive chemical products using CO₂ whilst directly replacing traditional fossil fuel feedstocks. Moreover, the ViridiCO₂’s process can do this whilst using less energy than traditional chemical processes, saving up to 73% in energy. Overall, their technology reduces reliance on fossil-fuels, actively reduces CO₂ emissions, and helps to transition manufacturers towards a circular economy.

ASTERRA provides geospatial data-driven platform solutions for water utilities, government agencies, and the greater infrastructure industry in the areas of roads, rails, dams, and mining. ASTERRA services use Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar data from satellites, artificial intelligence, and proprietary technology to turn this data into large-scale decision support tools. Since 2017, ASTERRA solutions have been used to detect underground water leaks and monitor soil moisture in over 64 countries, saving over 368 billion gallons of potable water, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 235,520 metric tons, and saving 920,000 MWH of energy.

For over 25 years, Oatly has exclusively focused on developing expertise around oats: a global power crop with inherent properties suited for sustainability and human health. The company built on the idea of change seeks to drive the global food system toward more plant-based production and consumption, replacing one dairy product at a time by making it easy for people to eat better without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources. Since 2019, Oatly has been campaigning for the carbon labelling of food and has even made it to the Bundestag with a petition, which gave rise to the industry-wide initiative Together for Carbon Labelling that demands a draft law for the mandatory carbon footprint labelling on foods in Germany.

Ayisha Siddiqa is a Pakistani human rights and land defender serving as a Youth Climate Advisor to the UN Secretary General. In 2020, she co-founded Polluters Out, a global youth activist coalition, and helped launch the Fossil Free University, an activism training course. As part of her activism, Ayisha has helped organize multiple school strikes for climate action that mobilized hundreds of thousands of young people. Her expertise in lobbying around climate negotiations has earned her recognition as a strategist among national and youth delegations in the UNFCCC. Ayisha was recognized on the cover of TIME magazine, as one of the Women of the Year 2023.

Fatou Jeng has 7 years’ experience in the climate and gender space and currently serves as one of the appointed youth climate advisors to the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres. She founded the youth-led NGO Clean Earth Gambia and co-led the Women and Gender working group of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Youth Constituency (YOUNGO). Clean Earth Gambia has mobilized and worked with over 3000 young Gambians in environmental protection through capacity-building, volunteering, and various educational initiatives. The organization has worked with the government of The Gambia and development partners including UNICEF, and has planted over 35,000 trees to date.

Ghislain Irakoze is the founder and CEO of Wastezon, a Rwandan deep tech social enterprise that enables consumers and manufacturers to recover and valorize e-waste materials efficiently through AI-enabled materials traceability. Wastezon is redefining systemic refurbishment of e-waste materials to generate low-cost and quality vetted devices to tackle Africa’s digital divide and e-waste pollution. The startup has so far recovered and remanufactured over 590 tons of e-waste, mitigating 35190 metric tons of avoided carbon emissions. Prior to founding Wastezon, Ghislain successfully organized the “Recycle for Environment” Campaign involving over 200 Rwandan students in creative waste recycling. He is a current Board Member of the Global Greengrants Fund and a former Youth Think Tank Researcher of Mastercard Foundation.
