Wellington, New Zealand (4 February 2009) - The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor together with the Embassy of Argentina hosted the inaugural Wines of the World Evening earlier this week.
VIP guests included members of the diplomatic community and the captains and managers from various NZI Sevens teams staying in the hotel for the Wellington Seven’s tournament this week.
The event, held at the Hotel’s Sojourn Bar and Grill, started with a demonstration of Argentine Tango by Viva Latina. During the evening, talks were given by Pedro Marotta, First Secretary of the Embassy of Argentina and by Vaughn Hooper, representative for Chakana Wines of the Mendoza region of Argentina.
Stiphan Beher, General Manager of the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor says, “Our Hotel has had a long relationship as the Home of the NZI Sevens. This was the optimum time to launch our new Wines of the World series with one of the participating nations. Our future wine evenings this year will feature wines from Chile, South Africa, Australia and the United States.”
